Published: March 05, 2023
Arsenal loanee Arthur Okonkwo kept a clean sheet for Sportklub Sturm Graz in their 2-0 away win over Austria Lustenau in the Austrian Bundesliga on Saturday evening.
Okonkwo has now kept two clean sheets and conceded four goals in five games across all competitions since joining the Austrian side.
Austria U21 centre-back David Affengruber gave Sturm Graz the lead in the 51st minute before Tomi Horvat sealed the away side's victory in the 76th minute.
The win keeps the title hopes of Sturm Graz alive, having reduced table-toppers RB Salzburg's lead over them to 6 points.
Okonkwo joined the Austrian outfit on loan for the remainder of the season during the January transfer window.
He spent the first half of the campaign with Crewe Alexandra in the EFL League Two where he kept 10 clean sheets in 26 appearances.
The Hale End Academy graduate was recalled by Arsenal in January before making a move to Austria.
He displaced Jörg Siebenhandl as the first-choice goalkeeper for Sturm Graz, having started the last five games.
Okonkwo has featured for England youth teams and is eligible to play for Nigeria having been born to Nigerian parents.
