Unstoppable Middlesbrough striker Akpom keeps scoring in the Championship
Published: March 15, 2023Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom continued his formidable form by getting on the score sheet as Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 draw by Stoke City in a Championship match at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday night.
And in doing so, he netted for the third straight game in the second tier of English football for the second time this season.
Midway through the first half, Akpom swept home after he was fed by Riley McGree, taking his tally in the division to twenty three goals and counting.
Akpom also etched his name in Middlesbrough folklore by scoring the 1000th goal from a Boro player at the Riverside Stadium.
Boro were denied all three points in the 45th minute when Ki-Jana Hoever powered home past goalkeeper Zack Steffen.
This season, thirteen different teams in the Championship have tried to stop Akpom from scoring and have been unsuccessful.
They are Sheffield United, Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic, Preston North End, Hull City, Bristol City, Blackpool, Luton Town, Watford, Queens Park Rangers, Reading, Swansea City and Stoke City.
