Chelsea youth team star George scores long-range beauty against Crystal Palace

In their final home game of the season, Chelsea U18s settled for a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in an U18 Premier League match at Cobham Training Center on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea's Nigerian coach Hassan Sulaiman picked two players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Somto Boniface and Tyrque George in his starting lineup, while winter signing from League of Ireland Premier Division side Cork City Franco Umeh-Chibueze started for Crystal Palace.

In a first half of few chances, it was Chelsea that came closest to breaking the deadlock when Murray-Campbell saw his header cleared off the line by Cormac Austin, and Boniface fired the rebound over the bar.

Two minutes into the second half, Adler Nascimento opened the scoring with a shot from inside the box with Vonnte Williams involved in the buildup to the goal.

Chelsea had a chance to restore parity from the spot in the 53rd minute but Stutter's effort cannoned off the crossbar.

George equalized for the Blues with an incredible 35-yard shot that ended in the top corner of Crystal Palace's goal in the 63rd minute and the winger came close to grabbing his second of the game a minute later but his header was cleared off the line.

An England youth international, George joined Chelsea at U8 level and signed his first professional contract in February.

Chelsea winger of Nigerian descent Chinonso Chibueze was a non-playing substitute against the Young Eagles.
