Bosso to make call on Eletu as Flying Eagles No. 10 undergoes light training pre-Brazil
Published: May 25, 2023Nigeria U20 head coach Ladan Bosso will make a call on the availability of AC Milan wonderkid Victor Eletu for the Flying Eagles upcoming match against South American champions, Brazil at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
In what was his full debut for the Flying Eagles, Eletu was stretchered off the pitch after suffering what appeared to be a significant injury, with the central midfielder signaling to the bench that he could not continue in the 67th minute of the match with the Italians.
Eletu is feeling the effects of playing too many games this season, a busy schedule that has seen him take part in 39 competitive matches for club and country.
When contacted to provide an update on the fitness of Eletu, Allele Celestine who handles the affairs of the Flying Eagles number 10, brought cheering news, saying that the midfielder underwent light training on Thursday and it's up to the coach to decide whether or not to use him against the Brazilians on Saturday.
Allele assured again and again that Eletu did not sustain a major injury and was only suffering from muscle cramps.
"Victor Eletu has fully recovered from his injury scare in yesterday's match," Allele said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"In terms of fitness and health he is okay, he was suffering from muscle cramps because of the hectic season. Supposed to be resting but playing in a very competitive tournament and the games are played in high humidity.
"He has started running, had light training today and will be resuming training with the squad on Friday.
"He may be rested for the game against Brazil in order to be fully fit and recharged for the knockout rounds."
Eletu was not part of the Flying Eagles preparations in Abuja and Buenos Aires due to club commitments.
He made his debut for the Nigeria U20s in their opener against Dominican Republic after just one training session with the team in Mendoza.
