'A goal is a goal' - Chelsea central defender Tosin reacts after scoring his third goal in four games
Published: January 21, 2025
Chelsea have moved back into the Premier League top four after a 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, with London-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo among the scorers for the Blues.
Tosin is enjoying a rich vein of form in front of goal, with his strike against Wolves taking his tally to three goals in his last four appearances for Chelsea.
Including his strike against FC Noah in the UEFA Conference League, the former Manchester City youth team skipper has four goals this term, setting a personal record for goals in a single season.
Tosin netted his first Premier League goal for the Blues twenty four minutes into the first half after VAR ruled in Chelsea's favour, overturning an offside decision initially given when he scrambled the ball home from close range.
In first half injury time, Matt Doherty got Wolves back on level terms, turning the ball in after capitalizing on a defensive error from a corner.
Chelsea secured their first win in six matches, thanks to quick goals from Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke in the second half.
Speaking to The BBC after the game, Tosin said: "Three goals in four games yes, four for the season and my first Premier League goal tonight, so very happy.
"It is definitely good to contribute to the goals and for them to come from all over the pitch.
"A goal is a goal at the end of the day. Even if you get the scummy ones it is always a good feeling."
Tosin concluded by praising Trevoh Chalobah for his impressive display in his first game since returning from a loan spell at Crystal Palace and defended goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for the mistake that led to Wolves' goal.
