Man City, Bayern Munich and Villarreal monitoring Flying Eagles centre-back Fredrick
Published: June 01, 2023German Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, Premier League winner, Manchester City and Spanish outfit, Villarreal are keeping tabs on Benjamin Fredrick.
This is according to transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano who says the aforementioned clubs are 'following' Fredrick, who is starring for the Flying Eagles at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup in Argentina.
The right-footed centre-back is also attracting interest from RB Leipzig, Anderlecht and Midtjylland.
The 18-year-old has been one of the impressive players for Flying Eagles who have advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, beating record champions and host Argentina and a good Italian side in the process without conceding a goal against them.
He has gone the distance in all but one game for the two-time finalists in Argentina, playing vital roles with Nigeria conceding only one goal and none from open play with him in the side.
The young centre-back was an influential member of a water-tight Nigerian defence that conceded just two goals at the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Fredrick celebrated his eighteenth birthday four days ago and he's now eligible to sign a professional contract with a European club.
