'Among the top 8 teams in the world' - Peseiro sends message to Flying Eagles after WC ouster
Published: June 04, 2023Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has sent words of encouragement and appreciated the Flying Eagles after they got knocked out of the FIFA U-20 World Cup by South Korea on Sunday evening.
A goal from Seok-Hyun Choi was enough for the Taegeuk Warriors to get the better of the Flying Eagles for the second time in their history.
Nigeria's U-20 team got to the quarterfinal with a lot of confidence having knocked out Argentina in the last round and a slim loss to the South Koreans broke the hearts of the players.
Though they finished third in the group stage, they were able to amass six points from the nine points available and conceded only two goals from open play.
Peseiro while reacting to the loss appreciated the effort of Ladan Bosso's boys and asked them to take the positive from the defeat
"Heads up, Flying Eagles!" Peserio wrote on Twitter.
"What you have shown in this world cup makes Nigerian people proud . They fought and honored to the end and earned a place among the top 8 teams in the World"
The Flying Eagles are yet to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup and they will have to wait for at least two more years to win the tournament.
