Five Super Eagles players that should look for new clubs in the summer transfer window
Published: June 21, 2023The European transfer window has been officially opened and activities are in full gear.
Super Eagles players plying their trade in Europe won't be left behind with Victor Osimhen, and Samuel Chukwueze leading the Super Eagles players linked with moves away from their present clubs.
While Osimhen and Chukwueze are not compelled to leave their present clubs , the following players must look for new clubs this summer.
1. Maduka Okoye: The Super Eagles goalie could only manage two appearances in all competitions last season for Watford as Austrian shot-stopper, Daniel Bachmann was preferred over him.
The 23-year-old must seek a move elsewhere this summer to revive his career.
2. Calvin Bassey: The versatile defender joined Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in the last transfer window from Glasgow Rangers.
However, he struggled for form despite getting a lot of minutes under his belt and was consistently criticized by the Dutch press.
The 23-year-old needs to leave for Greener pastures unless he has been guaranteed that he is the plan of Ajax's new head coach, Maurice Steijn.
3. Joe Aribo: Just like Bassey, the versatile midfielder left Glasgow Rangers last summer for Southampton.
He however struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, featuring on the bench for a long stretch of the season and was at some point left out of the matchday squads.
While Southampton have announced a new coach soon, Aribo might need to start looking for alternatives to reignite his club career.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Aribo is keen on joining a foreign club.
4. Paul Onuachu: The lanky striker was the best forward in the Jupiler Pro League before he moved to Southampton in January in the transfer window.
He struggled to replicate this goalscoring heroics with the Saints having failed to find the back of the net in 11 Premier League games.
A move away from Saint Mary's might already be on the cards as he seeks to get more game time and get back into the Super Eagles squad
5. Cyriel Dessers:The former Eredivisie top scorer failed to hit the ground running with Cremonese in the Italian Serie A in the last campaign.
He could only notch 7 goals in all competitions in his first season in Italy and might need to leave Cremonese to get his career back on track
He has been linked with Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers and Torino but has reportedly turned down a move to the former as he intends to remain in Italy
