Cardiff City working on deal to sign Super Eagles winger who trialled at Liverpool in 2016
Published: July 01, 2023Chidera Ejuke is being linked with a transfer to EFL Championship club Cardiff City this summer.
Walesonline journalist Glen Williams tweeted on Saturday morning that Cardiff City are working on a deal to sign Chidera Ejuke on a one-year temporary contract.
The Super Eagles winger is back at parent club CSKA Moscow after the expiration of his loan deal at Hertha Berlin.
Ejuke is attracting interest from the Bluebirds, seven years after he missed out on a dream move to Premier League giants Liverpool.
The Anfield side ran the rule over Gee Lec Football Academy products Ejuke, Charles Ezeh and Suleiman Muhammad, and ex-Nigeria U15 international Jacob Njoku, but passed up the opportunity to sign the quartet at the end of trials.
Last summer, Ejuke unilaterally suspended his contract at CSKA Moscow until June 2023, paving the way for him to join Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan.
Cardiff City are hoping to sign the Nigeria international on a similar arrangement.
The former Gombe United man began his career in Europe at Vålerenga Fotball in Norway before transferring to SC Heerenveen in July 2019.
