Birmingham City interested in London-born Super Eagles striker
Published: July 04, 2023Birmingham City are the latest club linked with a move for free agent Josh Maja in the summer transfer window.
London-born Maja is on the lookout for a new employer after turning down Bordeaux's contract renewal offer.
According to French reporter Ignazio Genuardi, via Football League World, Birmingham City are very interested in adding the 24-year-old to their squad on a free transfer following his departure from Bordeaux.
The Blues would be signing a player with some Championship experience if the deal were to go through.
The Fulham academy product registered seventeen appearances in the second tier of English football during the 2017-2018 season while wearing the colours of Sunderland, and played in fifteen matches during a loan spell at Stoke City in the second half of the 2021-2022 campaign.
Although Maja is currently out of contract, he is not lacking suitors after a banner season that saw him score seventeen goals in all competitions for Bordeaux - his joint-best return in a single season since turning professional.
Bordeaux are on the verge of completing the signing of Maribor's Slovenia national teamer Žan Vipotnik as a replacement for the departed Maja.
The Super Eagles star has also been linked with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers as well as teams in France and Belgium.
