Union SG coach drops update on Boniface amid rumours linking striker with Everton
Published: July 18, 2023Royale Union Saint-Gilloise manager Aleksander Blessin has provided an update on the future of Victor Boniface amid speculation linking the striker with a departure from the Jupiler Pro League side in the summer transfer window.
Everton are rumored to be interested in the Nigerian but allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that there's nothing in the recent reports linking him with a move to Goodison Park.
Boniface has put himself in the shop window after a banner season that saw him register 34 goal involvements in 55 appearances in all competitions combined for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodo/Glimt.
The 22-year-old also finished the campaign as the leading marksman in the Europa League with six goals to his name and was named to the UEL Team of the Season.
Blessin acknowledged that he's aware of reports linking Boniface with German Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen but hopes to retain him for for the forthcoming season.
"I read in the papers that Leverkusen was interested in his profile. But the German club was also interested in Werder Bremen's Niclas Fillkrug.
"It's a good idea that Fillkrug goes to Bayer, as Boniface might stay," he told La Dernière Heure via voetbalnieuws.
Signed for a fee of two million euros last summer, Boniface is contracted to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise until June 30, 2026.
