Harry Kane's potential replacement: Gent boss unsure about future of Tottenham target Orban
Published: August 10, 2023
KAA Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has admitted that he can't guarantee the future of Tottenham Hotspur-linked striker Gent Orban at the club.
The 21-year-old is being lined by the north London-based club as a potential replacement for Bayern Munich-bound forward Harry Kane.
According to The Athletic UK's David Ornstein (subscription required), Tottenham have accepted Bayern Munich's latest bid for Kane and it is left to the English striker to decide on whether he wants to leave the club.
With a huge void to fill in the striking department, Ange Postecoglou's side are exploring the possibility of signing the Nigerian striker.
While there is nothing concrete regarding the transfer of the diminutive forward to Tottenham, the likely departure of Kane might accelerate that.
Vanhaezebrouck while commenting on the future of Orban said that he is not sure about the striker staying with his side beyond this summer and that they must be ready for whatever happens
"I don't know if he will still be playing with us in September. We must prepare for what may still happen and, above all, strengthen the core. We are working hard on it," he told Sporza, via voetbalbelgie.
Orban showed yet again why he is being coveted by Spurs as he bagged a hat trick in Gent's 5-0 win over Pogoń Szczecin in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
He has now netted 5 goals in three games this season for the Jupiler Pro League side.
