Peseiro handed boost pre-Saudi Arabia as Fenerbahce defender returns to action
Published: October 02, 2023Nigeria will return to action on October 13 when they take on Saudi Arabia in an international friendly scheduled to hold at Estádio Municipal de Portimão, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has been handed a boost ahead of his squad announcement with Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel returning to action.
The Blackpool academy product started for the Yellow Canaries in their 5-0 hammering of Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
Osayi-Samuel was omitted from Fenerbahce's matchday squad against Basaksehir FK in the penultimate round of games in the division due to discomfort he felt in the last training session, but hs fitness concerns are over.
The 25-year-old was not called up for the dead rubber 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match with São Tomé and Príncipe because he was managing a groin injury.
Osayi-Samuel has started playing regularly again under manager İsmail Kartal with ten starts from a possible fourteen in all competitions so far this season, and he could have started more games but was not available for selection for three matches due to injury.
Osayi-Samuel's return to action will be sweet music to the ears of Peseiro who is sweating over the fitness of defenders Calvin Bassey (Fulham), Zaidu Sanusi (Porto) and Semi Ajayi (West Brom) before next week's friendly.
