Porto coach puts a timeframe on Sanusi possible return from injury
Published: November 02, 2023Porto manager Sérgio Conceição has provided an injury update on Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi ahead of his side's Primeira Liga meeting with Estori.
According to Porto's official website, the defender is one of the players not available for Friday night's game at the Estádio Do Dragão (Porto).
Of the Porto players currently sidelined by injuries, Conceição revealed that only the Nigerian has a chance of recovering for the UEFA Champions League clash against Antwerp on Tuesday, November 7.
The latest medical report released by Porto stated that Sanusi is still undergoing treatment.
Whether or not he makes his return from injury against the Belgian champions, the fullback is unlikely to be in the plans of Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers considering the fact that he has been inactive since September 19, 2023.
Sanusi suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh during the first half of Porto's Champions League opener against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Boavista star Bruno Onyemaechi has deputised for Sanusi at left-back in the last three games played by the Super Eagles.
Peseiro is also sweating on the fitness of Victor Osimhen (Napoli), Samuel Chukwueze (AC Milan) and Semi Ajayi (West Brom) ahead of the back-to-back games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe,
