Akpom's situation at Ajax being monitored by English clubs ahead of January transfer window
Published: November 04, 2023Chuba Akpom is being linked with a return to England just a few months after he left Middlesbrough, following his slow start to life at Ajax Amsterdam.
According to celebrated Dutch football magazine Voetbal International via Football Transfers, the Hale End Product is being monitored by some unnamed clubs in England ahead of the January transfer window.
Before his move to the Netherlands, he was linked with Everton, Crystal Palace, and Leeds United but it remains to be seen whether any of the aforementioned teams still retain an interest in his services.
Akpom has had to watch Brian Brobbey who is the first-choice striker at the moment start games for Ajax since the start of the campaign.
The 2022/2023 PFA Championship Players' Player of the Year has started just one Eredivisie game and has one goal to his name which he got in the Dutch giants' last match against Volendam on Thursday.
Off the field, a lot of questions have also been raised regarding his move to Amsterdam with pundits and fans surprised with his transfer fee and salary.
The former Arsenal forward will be hoping to kickstart his career with the 36-time Dutch champions in the coming weeks having opened his goalscoring account.
