'Happy I was able to show what I have to offer' - Ex-Arsenal winger Ideho after MotM display for ADO Den Haag
Published: November 28, 20232023 Flying Eagles invitee Joel Ideho was the standout performer as ADO Den Haag recorded a big 6-0 win over Jong FC Utrecht in the Dutch second tier on Monday night.
The former Ajax Amsterdam and Arsenal winger was named Man of the Match ahead of hat-trick hero Jort van der Sande.
Seven minutes before halftime, Ideho headed in to make it 3-0 after a delightful cross from Jort van der Sande.
It was the 20-year-old's second career goal since turning professional having opened his account for ADO Den Haag in a 2-2 draw with VVV Venlo on October 27.
In a cold and rainy Bingoal Stadium, ADO Den Haag's other scorers were Daryl van Mieghem and Malik Sellouki, who both netted in the last seventeen minutes of the contest.
Since netting his first senior goal, Ideho has forced his way into ADO Den Haag's starting lineup having started three of their last four games in the Eerste Divisie.
Ideho got the crowd on their feet with several exciting runs down the left flank before he was replaced in the 77th minute.
Reacting to his performance against Jong FC Utrecht, Ideho told Omroep West post-match: "I enjoyed it. I'm playing more and more in the starting line-up, so I'm getting into my rhythm more. That creates trust. I also felt free in my head today."
When ADO Den Haag won 6-0 for the last time in the first division (May 9, 1998 versus HFC Haarlem ), Ideho was not even born yet.
Responding, Ideho said: "That was a very long time ago. But I am certainly happy that I was able to show what I have to offer today."
Ideho ended a three-year association with Premier League club Arsenal at the end of the 2022-2023 season and made a return to Dutch football in August 2023 by signing for ADO Den Haag on a two-year deal.
