Published: December 08, 2023Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag promoted two teenagers of Nigerian descent to first team training ahead of his side's Premier League meeting with Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
According to the latest training images published by United on their official website, Poland U21 international Maxi Oyedele and England U19 international Shola Shoretire were both monitored at close quaters by the Dutch football tactician.
The Red Devils have a number of injury worries before the visit of the Cherries, with Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez definitely out of the game; Marcus Rashford is rated as doubtful while Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount are in the treatment room.
It remains to be seen whether Shoretire and Oyedele will be picked in the matc day squad against Bournemouth.
Ten Hag has hinted that he will take Tuesday's Champions League clash against Bayern Munich into account when naming his squad to face the Cherries.
The two English-born Nigerian players have not figured for United's development squad this month, the Premier League 2 clash against Tottenham Hotspur U21s was postponed as a result of a partly frozen pitch.
Shoretire and Oyedele have not been given first team minutes since the appointment of Ten Hag as coach in 2022 and enjoyed loan spells at Bolton Wanderers and Altrincham respectively in the second half of last season.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke was spotted training this week and should be available for the trip to Old Trafford.
