UCL: Nwaneri denied the chance to break two records as Arsenal are held by PSV Eindhoven

Ethan Nwaneri failed to break two records as he sat on the bench for the entire duration of Arsenal's 1-1 draw with PSV in their last UEFA Champions League group game played at Philips Stadion on Tuesday evening.

The away side took the lead in the 42nd minute of the game through  Eddie Nketiah whose effort from the edge of the box ricocheted the right post before landing in the back of the net.

The home side restored parity in the 50th minute through Yorbe Vertessen who struck a spectacular shot towards the bottom right corner.

Despite having nothing to play for, Mikel Arteta decided to bring on the senior players in a bid to secure the maximum points instead of Nwaneri and Reull Walters, the youth players on the bench for Arsenal waiting for their Champions League debut.

Having failed to feature in today's encounter, the 16-year-old has failed to break Jack Wilshere's record of being the youngest player to feature for the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League,  a record he set in 2008 when he appeared against Dynamo Kyiv at the age of 16 years and 329 days.

The talented midfielder was also deprived of the chance to break Ansu Fati's record of being the youngest goal-scorer in the competition as the latter netted in Barcelona's triumph over Inter Milan in 2019 at the age of 17 years and 40 days.
