Gift Orban's market value takes a hit but 2023 Super Eagles invitee still Gent's most valuable player
Published: December 19, 20232023 Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban has yet once again gone down the pecking order of the Jupiler Pro League's most valuable players.
As previously reported, the Gent forward had lost his place to Royal Antwerp's midfielder Arthur Vermeeren as the most expensive player in the Belgian top flight but has now gone down further in the ranking.
According to the latest update by Transfermarkt, the Nigerian striker, is presently valued at €15m, five less than his previous valuation which stood at €20 million.
As a result, the diminutive forward is now placed fifth in the ranking of the most valuable players in the Jupiler Pro League, behind Arthur Vermeeren (Antwerp), Bilal El Khannouss (Genk), Andreas Skov Olsen (Club Brugge) and Antonio Nusa (Club Brugge).
Orban is still at the top of ladder when it comes to the most valuable players at KAA Gent.
His dip in valuation comes as no surprise as he has looked like a shadow of the player who took Europe by storm when he arrived at Gent in January.
He has 12 goals in twenty-seven games this season, which is an average of 0.44 goals per game, a far cry from when he was averaging almost a goal per game in the second half of last season having netted 20 times in twenty-two appearances.
