2023 AFCON Nigeria v Cameroon: Peseiro drops early clue regarding Super Eagles starting XI
Published: January 26, 2024
Jose Peseiro has dropped an early clue regarding his starting lineup for Saturday night's mouthwatering 2023 Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 match against five-time champions Cameroon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Portuguese football tactician has selected Nantes winger Moses Simon to accompany him to the pre-match press conference scheduled to hold at the Palais de la Culture in Abidjan on Friday, starting from 1230 hours.
With the exception of captain Ahmed Musa who attended the team's first official press conference before the clash against Equatorial Guinea, all the other players present during the pre-match press conferences were handed starting berths.
William Troost-Ekong started against Ivory Coast and Kenneth Omeruo, the player picked for the pre-match press conference against Guinea-Bissau, was named in the starting lineup for the last group game.
Having said that, Troost-Ekong, Omeruo and Simon are the three assistant captains in that order, therefore, attending press conferences to preview games is part of their duties.
Simon started two of the three matches played by the Super Eagles in the group stage and was named Man of the Match in his last outing against Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles will wrap up their preparations for the upcoming game against the Indomitable Lions with a training session at the Ecole Nationale de la Police, Abidjan on Friday, starting from 1630 hours with the first fifteen minutes open to the media.
