Nantes make N3.1b bid to sign Super Eagles left-back Onyemaechi ahead of deadline day
Published: January 30, 2024
French Ligue 1 outfit Nantes have submitted a concrete offer to Boavista for the purchase of Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyemaechi ahead of the close of the January transfer window.
According to Portuguese sports daily O Jogo, the French side have submitted a €3.2m (approximately N3.1 billion in Nigerian currency) bid for the signing of the Nigeria international as they seek to replace Quentin Merlin who they sold to Marseille.
The report also added that the future of the fullback will be determined by Boavista's President Vítor Murta who will have a say on whether to accept the bid from Nantes or not.
The French side are not only the interested club aspiring to sign the 24-year-old this month, unnamed Turkish teams are also eyeing a move for him but it is only the Canaries that have shown concrete interest.
Last summer, the Nigerian defender was linked with a move to Porto but the Portuguese giants were unable to strike a deal with Boavista.
Onyemaechi has started thirteen matches in the Liga Portugal this season and has one assist to his credit.
He is currently on international duty with Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations where he is yet to play a single minute.
