Confirmed Nigeria team news: Super Eagles official reveals Nwabali is available for selection against Angola
Published: February 02, 2024In a matter of hours, Nigeria's Super Eagles will be facing off with Angola's Palancas Negras in a quarterfinal clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Super Eagles Media Officer Babafemi Raji has confirmed an exclusive story published by by allnigeriasoccer.com, two days ago, stating that goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is available for selection against Angola on Friday evening.
Previously, Nwabali had been rated as doubtful after coming off worse in a collision with a Cameroon player during the second half of Nigeria's 2-0 win over the Indomitable Lions.
However, the Chippa United glovesman has overcome the mild ligament injury he suffered against the Indomitable Lions and was spotted in full training in the Super Eagles final workout on Thursday.
Asked if Nwabali will be fit to face Angola, Raji said to Channels Television on Friday morning : "He trained yesterday, he trained the day before but yesterday was more intense so it simply means he's available for selection today.
"For him to have trained yesterday rigorously with the rest of the team he's very much available for selection.
"In terms of who gets to start, it's the coach's decision to make but he's very much available for selection today's match."
Raji underlined that the Super Eagles players are mentally prepared for the game against Angola and have received massive support from fans, media and government officials.
The Super Eagles players and officials will head to the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan as from 1515 hours, after holding a team meeting
