What has gone wrong for Samuel Chukwueze at Italian giants AC Milan?
Published: March 03, 2024Samuel Chukwueze, the Nigerian winger who arrived at AC Milan with much fanfare last summer, has yet to find his feet at the San Siro.
The 24-year-old has struggled for regular playing time and has failed to impress when he has been given the opportunity.
There are a number of reasons why Chukwueze may be struggling to adapt to life at Milan.
One possibility is that he is simply not suited to the team's style of play. Milan are a team that likes to play possession-based football, and Chukwueze is more of a direct, attack-minded player.
He may be finding it difficult to adjust to the team's slower tempo and more patient approach.
Another possibility is that Chukwueze is still suffering from the after-effects of the injury which he sustained earlier this season.
The winger missed a significant amount of time due to a hamstring muscle problem, and he may not yet be back to full fitness mentally and psychologically.
It is also possible that Chukwueze is simply lacking in confidence. He has not been at his best in recent months, and this may be affecting his performances on the pitch.
Whatever the reason for Chukwueze's struggles, it is clear that he needs to find a way to turn things around soon.
With Milan competing for a place in the Champions League, there is no room for sentimentality. If Chukwueze cannot prove himself in the coming weeks, he may find himself on the fringes of the squad.
It remains to be seen whether Chukwueze will be able to overcome these challenges and establish himself as a regular starter for Milan.
However, he needs to start performing soon if he wants to have a future at the San Siro.
