0 goals in 16 Serie A games: Ravelli goes hard on AC Milan winger Chukwueze
Published: March 11, 2024Pundit Arianna Ravelli has passed a vote of no confidence on Samuel Chukwueze after the Super Eagles forward struggled to impress for the umpteenth time this season for AC Milan during their Serie A clash with Empoli yesterday.
Since joining the Rossoneri in the summer, Chukwueze has struggled to adapt to life and has looked like a shadow of the electric winger who notched double digits of goal involvement for Villarreal last term.
The Nigeria international struggles have not been helped by the fact that his fellow summer arrival Christian Pulisic has had a blistering start to life at San Siro and as a result been preferred over him.
The 24-year-old featured just for the second time in the Serie A yesterday since his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and put in another unimpressive display, taking his total appearances in the division to 16.
Commenting on Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera via Milan News about AC Milan's encounter with Empoli, Ravelli stated that, unlike Pulisic, Stefano Pioli's side can't rely on Chukwueze as they seek to close the gap on their city rivals.
"Pulisic has demonstrated once again that he is decisive: eighth goal in the league, plus two in Europe.
"We can build on his concreteness but it is clear that more is needed to bridge the gap with Inter: it is not with the evanescence of Chukwueze that we can go far."
Chukwueze is one of the six outfield players with at least 15 appearances in the Serie A this campaign yet to register a goal for the Rossoneri.
