Barcelona v Napoli: Top European club to run the rule over Super Eagles striker Osimhen tonight
Published: March 12, 2024Barcelona and Napoli meet in a UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg clash at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Tuesday night, with several scouts representing top European clubs expected to be in attendance.
The game is beautifully poised after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg tie held at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Monday, Napoli manager Francesco Calzona dubbed the Barcelona versus Napoli cracker 'the biggest match of the year for us'.
The game has also been billed as a duel between two of the most feared strikers in Europe, Osimhen and Robert Lewandowski.
According to la Repubblica's authoritative reporter Antonio Corbo, via CalcioNapoli24, Nigeria international Victor Osimhen will be watched by managers and coaches of the best clubs in Europe.
One of the coaches who will monitor Osimhen closely is Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has been heavily linked with a transfer to the Parisians who are in the market for a world-class striker to replace Kylian Mbappe, who looks likely to be heading to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Osimhen has also been linked with possible moves to teams in England namely Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, and is also being followed by La Liga teams.
Though the 25-year-old signed a contract extension at Napoli before heading for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, his departure from Napoli this summer is inevitable.
