Serie A: The unwanted statistic Chukwueze is aiming to overturn as AC Milan face Sassuolo
Published: April 14, 2024Samuel Chukwueze is aiming to overturn an unwanted statistic in the Serie A meeting between Sassuolo and AC Milan at the MAPEI Stadium - Città del Tricolore (Reggio Emilia) on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
According to football statistics website Whoscored.com, the Nigeria international has not registered a single successful cross after 791 minutes of game time spread across nineteen matches in the Serie A.
Chuwkueze has attempted fourteen crosses in the Italian top-flight, none of which have successfully connected with a teammate.
An inverted winger, one of his key strengths is dribbling and he has avergaed one successful take-on per game in all competitions in the ongoing season.
The former Villarreal dazzler has been enjoying a new lease of life in recent weeks, so much so that Rossoneri manager Stefano Pioli was criticized for not naming him in the starting lineup for Thursday's 1-0 loss to AS Roma in the Europa League.
Chukwueze netted his first goal in the Serie A against Hellas Verona on March 17, before bagging an assist in Milan's first home game after the international break - a 3-0 rout of Lecce.
The 24-year-old has managed three other goal involvements in a Milan shirt, scoring in back-to-back games against Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United in the Champions League and setting up a goal in a 2-2 draw versus Lecce back in November.
Of the 44 games played by AC Milan this season, Chukwueze has started only twelve including nine in the Serie A.
