Confirmed: Rangers academy product Mebude returns to parent club after loan spell at Bristol City

Through a statement on their official website, Championship outfit Bristol City have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2023-2024 season.

The Robins will be competing in the second tier of English football next season by virtue of finishing eleventh in the recently concluded campaign, having accumulated 62 points from 46 games.

Bristol City have confirmed that Rangers academy product Dire Mebude has returned to his parent club K.V.C. Westerlo following the completion of his loan spell.

Mebude joined Bristol City in the January transfer window in search of first team football but struggled for game time at Ashton Gate, logging 44 minutes spread across three games.

Overall, the Scotland U21 international of Nigerian descent received sixteen call-ups and was a non-playing substitute on thirteen occasions.

Mebude, who has a contract with K.V.C. Westerlo until June 30, 2027, was on the books of Rangers for six years before joining Manchester City as a 16-year-old.

Meanwhile, Duncan Idehen is among the nine players under the age of 24 released by Bristol City.

A center back by trade, he spent time on loan at Bath City and Yeovil Town in the 2023-2024 campaign.

Idehen is departing Bristol City after making two first team appearances off the bench during the 2021-2022 season.
