Fulham Goal of the Season nominee Iwobi has a new market value of N40.25b
Published: May 27, 2024Football statistics and transfer market website, Transfermarkt updated the market values of some players in the Premier League on Monday, May 27.
Alex Iwobi has been slapped with a new price tag of 25 million euros (approximately N40.25 billion in Nigerian currency), making him the second most expensive player at Fulham, only behind João Palhinha who is valued at €55 million.
Despite an outstanding season that saw him score six goals, his joint best in a single season, the Nigeria international's market value has been downgraded from €28m to €25m.
Iwobi was a key member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he started six of the seven matches contested by the national team including the showpiece versus Ivory Coast.
The Hale End Academy graduate is the fifth most expensive Nigerian player, behind Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, Ademola Lookman and Taiwo Awoniyi, and ranked number 149 among Premier League players.
Iwobi is in the running for Fulham's Goal of the Season award and faces competition from Andreas Pereira, João Palhinha, Raúl Jiménez, Harry Wilson (3), Bobby Decordova-Reid (2) and Rodrigo Muniz.
The Super Eagles playmaker was nominated for his injury time winner in a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on February 24.
In the 97th minute, Iwobi slotted past Manchester United's Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana, placing the ball into the bottom corner following a counterattack.
The goal was voted Fulham's Goal of the Month for February.
