Possible heir to Thiago Silva: Chelsea offer contract to Newcastle and Man Utd target Tosin
Published: May 27, 2024Chelsea have reportedly firmed up their interest in Tosin Adarabioyo by making a contract offer to the Nigerian central defender.
The Manchester City academy product is one of the most highly sought after players in the summer transfer window due to his Premier League experience, coupled with the fact that he is a homegrown player.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have offered a contract to Tosin in a bid to sign the centre-back ahead of their Premier League rivals.
The 26-year-old is on the list of players being targeted by Manchester United to bolster their defensive ranks.
But the Red Devils are now lagging behind Chelsea in the race for the services of the Nigerian who is set to end his four-year association with Fulham at the end of next month after turning down a new deal that would have made him one of the highest paid players at Craven Cottage.
Newcastle United are still in discussions with Tosin and his camp regarding a deal.
While the negotiations have been progressing positively, the defender has not yet decided whether to join the Magpies.
Chelsea are looking at signing Tosin as a possible replacement for experienced central defender Thiago Silva who is leaving Stamford Bridge upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2024.
Tosin was left out of Fulham's squad for the last four matches of the 2023-2024 season, after it became evident that he would not be signing a new contract.
