Fabrizio Romano reveals the truth about reported swap deal involving Chelsea striker Lukaku and Osimhen
Published: May 30, 2024As the summer transfer window approaches, speculation surrounding a potential swap deal between Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku and Napoli's Victor Osimhen has been rife.
Osimhen, highly sought after by top clubs across Europe, is expected to depart Napoli this summer, while Lukaku, currently on loan at AS Roma, is poised to return to Chelsea but is likely to seek a move elsewhere before the start of the upcoming season.
However, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided insight into the situation, revealing that Chelsea are not currently in negotiations with Napoli for such a swap.
In a recent update on his YouTube channel, Romano stated: "I keep receiving many questions on a swap deal after rumors about a swap deal between Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku. My sources are denying to me the possibility of Osimhen and Lukaku swap deal.
"What I'm told, as of now, Chelsea and Napoli are not discussing about that. Chelsea have different ideas.
"Enzo Maresca, let's see what he will decide in terms of the striker to sign together with the club. Remember the name of Benjamin Šeško because he's on Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United list.
"For an important player like Osimhen I have no confirmation on Chelsea working on a swap deal with Lukaku.
"Let's see if Chelsea will enter the race for Osimhen in the next weeks, but at the moment between Chelsea, Osimhen, Napoli, Lukaku, nothing is really concrete or happening."
Osimhen initially made the cut for Nigeria's 23-man squad set to compete against South Africa and Benin in the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Unfortunately, due to an injury that will sideline him for approximately four to five weeks, he has been substituted by Kenneth Igboke, the left-back from Enugu Rangers.
