Super Eagles-eligible player joins Chelsea, subject to medical
Published: June 01, 2024According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Super Eagles-eligible player Tosin Adarabioyo has agreed to join Chelsea.
A verbal agreement has been reached between the former Manchester City youth player and the two-time European champions today and a medical has been scheduled to take place next week.
Besides being a possible replacement for the departing Thiago Silva, the Blues also decided to move for the Nigerian defender due to his aerial prowess with the club trying to solve their vulnerability from set pieces.
Last season, Adarabioyo won 2.9 aerial duels per game in the Premier League according to whoscored.com, the joint most for Fulham and which was more than that of any Chelsea defender.
The 26-year-old and Enzo Maresa who looks set to be the club's new gaffer reportedly understand each other having spent time at Manchester City and that has been said to also be a factor Chelsea considered in moving for the defender.
He will move to Stamford Bridge as a free agent as his contract with Fulham comes to an end this month and is set to become the club's first signing of the summer and the first under Maresca.
