Moises Caicedo beats Madueke, Chukwuemeka, Tyrique George to win Chelsea Goal of the Season
Published: June 02, 2024England youth internationals of Nigerian descent Noni Madueke, Carney Chukwuemeka and Tyrique George have missed out on Chelsea's Goal of the Season award.
The official website of Chelsea has confirmed that supporters have voted Moises Caicedo's phenomenal strike against Bournemouth as the club's Goal of the Season for 2023-2024.
Eight other players had been in the running for the Goal of the Season, namely Mykhailo Mudryk, Sam Kerr, Raheem Sterling, Harrison McMahon, Cole Palmer, Lauren James, Enzo Fernandez and Mayra Ramirez.
Chukwuemeka was nominated for his first senior goal in Chelsea's 2-1 loss to West Ham United in August, Madueke for his strike in a 4-2 win versus Leicester City in the semifinals of the FA Cup and George for his brilliant goal against Crystal Palace U18s.
Madueke. Chukwuemeka and George's goal did not make it to the top three, with Enzo Fernandez's free-kick goal finishing in second place with 10.5 percent of the vote and Cole Palmer ranking third with 8.2 percent of the vote.
Caicedo's 50-yard strike against the Cherries on the final day of the Premier League season emerged as the undisputed winner with 64.7 percent of the vote.
Tyrique George has made a name for himself for scoring spectacular goals and was nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month five times last season but missed out on the award.
Cap-tied England international of Nigerian descent Fikayo Tomori won Chelsea's Goal of the Season in 2020.
