Osimhen holding out for move to Premier League, awaits offer from Arsenal after Chelsea snub
Published: June 03, 2024According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is holding out for a move to the Premier League and is awaiting an offer from Arsenal after Chelsea cooled their interest in him.
Napoli need funds, having missed out on European competition, and a hefty sum is anticipated from Osimhen's sale to finance reinforcements.
The ideal scenario for Napoli is threefold: activating the 25-year-old's €120 million release clause in its entirety, reducing his soaring salary demands (projected at €10 million per year), and finding a suitable replacement at a reasonable cost.
Despite Osimhen's dream of joining the Premier League, particularly Chelsea, a club he supports due to Didier Drogba, the Blues seem to be out of the picture as they target a different type of striker.
Talks of a swap deal involving Lukaku have also fizzled out.
Arsenal remain a possibility, but the player himself seems more hesitant about a move to Saudi Arabia, which might be more financially attractive for Napoli.
The transfer window is yet to truly ignite, and all parties involved are eager for a swift resolution.
With Osimhen at the heart of the situation, the coming weeks could see a flurry of activity as Napoli seek a lucrative transfer and a suitable successor for their star striker.
Names like Victor Boniface, Gyokeres, Sesko, Lorenzo Lucca and Artem Dovbyk have all been floated as potential replacements for Osimhen, with Dovbyk and Romelu Lukaku currently considered frontrunners.
