Napoli identify two Arsenal players that could be used as makeweights in proposed deal for Osimhen
Published: June 04, 2024In a bid to secure the services of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Arsenal have reportedly put forward a proposal that includes two players.
The north London club is aiming to negotiate down the hefty release clause attached to Osimhen's contract with Napoli.
Osimhen boasts a formidable release clause of 130 million euros and in an effort to bring down this figure, Arsenal have offered the inclusion of midfielder Emile Smith Rowe and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu as part of the deal, according to Italian sports daily
Corriere dello Sport.
Napoli's incoming coach, Antonio Conte, has given the green light to the inclusion of both players in the negotiations.
Conte, known for his strategic approach to team building, views the addition of Smith Rowe and Tomiyasu as crucial to his vision for the Naples-based club.
Arsenal face stiff competition in their pursuit of the talented forward, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain also credited with an interest in the 2022-2023 Serie A top scorer.
Currently sidelined due to injury, Osimhen will miss Nigeria's upcoming fixtures against South Africa and Benin.
Nigeria, currently third in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will face South Africa on July 7th before taking on Benin three days later.
