Official: Levski Sofia complete deal for former Golden Eaglets central defender
Published: July 08, 2024With a statement on their official website, Bulgarian top-flight club Levski Sofia have announced the signing of former Nigeria U17 international Clement Ikenna.
The 21-year-old ended his association with Croatian club NK Dubrava ZG after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract with Levski Sofia, until the summer of 2027.
Per club policy, Levski Sofia have not disclosed the fee they paid for the acquisition of the talented Nigerian central defender.
Ikenna was one of the standout players for the Golden Eaglets at the 2019 U17 Africa Cup of Nations and Fifa U17 World Cup, going the distance in nine consecutive matches during the tournaments held in Tanzania and Brazil respectively.
The Port Harcourt-born player began his career in Europe with the academy team of NK Zagorec and in the summer of 2022 he moved to another Croatian club NK Dubrava ZG.
Ikenna made 61 appearances in all competitions for NK Dubrava ZG, scoring three goals in 5,282 minutes of action.
During his unveiling ceremony, he was presented with the number 30 jersey.
Levski Sofia, 26-time champions of Bulgaria, begin the season with a derby clash against Lokomotiv Sofia on July 20.
Garba Lawal, Omonigho Temile, Justice Christopher, Richard Eromoigbe, Ekundayo Jayeoba, and Tunde Adeniji are all former players of Levski Sofia.
