'There's some interest' - Dessers provides update on Rangers future amid links with Euro, Saudi clubs
Published: July 14, 2024Cyriel Dessers has expressed his desire to stay at Rangers amid reports linking him with an exit from the club, a year after his arrival.
The Super Eagles forward has been credited with an interest from Greek defending champions PAOK and Cagliari while some unnamed clubs in the Netherlands, France, Spain and Saudi Arabia are interested in him as well.
Rangers are open to letting him leave due to his unconvincing performances last season and with the 55-time Scottish League champions focusing on signing younger players as they seek to beef up their squad ahead of next season.
There has been no confirmed reports from any club offering an official bid to the Light Blues for the services of the Belgium-born forward as of now, thereby a possibility of him staying at the Ibrox shouldn't be ruled out.
Speaking with Ziggo Sport Voetbal via Footballtransfers after Rangers preseason clash with Ajax on Saturday,Dessers confirmed interests from other clubs in his services but also stated his willingness to stay with Rangers
"I am very happy here, so I would like to stay," says Dessers.
"There is some interest, but my intention is to stay and then we will see what happens."
The 29-year-old Dessers was the first choice striker for the Light Blues last term, featuring in 54 games across all competitions and scored 22 times.
