Done deal: Released Arsenal goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri joins Danish Superliga club
Published: July 15, 2024Through a statement on their official website, Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland have confirmed the signing of 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Ovie Ejeheri.
Ejeheri, who started his journey with Arsenal at U9 level and stayed with them for thirteen years, has moved to the Wolves on a free transfer following his release by the Gunners upon the expiration of his contract on June 30, 2024.
The 1.95 meter tall goalkeeper enjoyed loan spells at Chelmsford City and SJK Seinäjoki during his time at Arsenal, posting twenty clean sheets combined in 41 matches for the National League South and Veikkausliiga clubs.
In his final season at Arsenal, Ejeheri registered fifteen appearances in the Premier League 2, including the playoffs, and was also called up to first team training by manager Mikel Arteta.
FC Midtjylland have high hopes for Ejeheri and have signed him on a five-year deal that will keep him in Central Jutland until June 30, 2029.
Ejeheri is delighted with his move to FC Midtjylland and labeled the club one of the biggest in Scandinavia.
He told the club's official website: "Midtjylland is a club with big ambitions and one of the biggest clubs in Scandinavia.
"I really enjoyed my time in Finland last season - both on and off the field - and I see it as a good opportunity to come to Danish football, where I see many similarities, but of course also differences.
"Now I am looking forward to working with the whole group and especially the talented goalkeepers who are at the club"
FC Midtjylland's football director Peter Sand describes Ejeheri as a big, strong, reactive goalkeeper who has a good presence in the box.
