Official: Ismaheel departs Lorient for Polish club on permanent deal
Published: July 17, 2024With a statement on their official website, French Ligue 2 club Lorient have confirmed that Nigerian winger Taofeek Ismaheel has completed a move to Polish Ekstraklasa team Górnik Zabrze.
The 24-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Górnik Zabrze, until June 30, 2027.
Ismaheel arrived at Les Merlus in January 2022, and was immediately loaned out to Vålerenga Fotball (Norway), before a two-year loan to SK Beveren in Belgium.
At SK Beveren, he appeared in 56 matches across all competitions and directly participated in 18 goals (8 goals, 10 assists).
Górnik Zabrze have embarked on a recruitment campaign in the ongoing transfer window, bringing in three players previously on the books of top five European League clubs.
Ismaheel has followed in the footsteps of Aleksander Buksa and Lukáš Ambros, who were acquired from Genoa (Serie A) and Wolfsburg (Bundesliga) respectively.
He is a dynamic winger with the ability to use both feet equally well and good at dribbling.
Górnik Zabrze have signed the Nigerian as a potential replacement for German winger Lawrence Ennali, who is heavily linked with a departure from the club this summer.
On his football curriculum vitae, Taofeek Ismaheel lists Crystal Palace academy, HB Abuja, Skeid and Fredrikstad as his previous clubs.
