Confirmed: Racing Genk loan out 21yo Nigerian striker to Swiss club Servette FC
Published: July 17, 2024Through official channels, Swiss Super League side Servette FC have confirmed the signing of promising Nigerian striker Victory Beniangba from Racing Genk.
Beniangba will spend the whole of the 2024-2025 season on loan at the 17-time Swiss champions.
The 21-year-old has yet to force his way into Genk's first team since joining the Belgian Jupiler Pro League team around two years ago.
He has joined Servette FC on a temporary basis after a stellar campaign with Jong Genk, scoring twelve goals in 25 matches in the Challenger Pro League, the second highest level in the Belgian football pyramid.
The Yenagoa-born forward spent his formative years as a footballer at Dream Boys FA and hometown club Bayelsa United, before moving abroad in search of greener pastures.
He played for Egyptian clubs Cleopatra FC and Gaish before he was acquired by Racing Genk.
Servette FC are competing in the third qualifying round of the 2024-2025 Europa League by virtue of finishing third in the Super League in the past season.
It is still unclear if Beniangba will be part of the squad for Servette's first competitive match of the season against Luzern on Sunday, July 21.
The most notable Nigerian player to wear the colours of Servette is none other than 1993 Fifa U17 World Cup-winning captain, Wilson Oruma.
