Official: Former Flying Eagles midfielder signs new two-year deal with Watford

According to a statement on their official website, Watford have confirmed that former Flying Eagles midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has signed a new contract.

Having impressed for the Hornets last term, the Championship outfit have decided to reward him by giving him a new two-year contract with an option to extend by a further year.

Just like his brother Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, the 24-year-old is a Manchester City Academy product and he joined the Championship side in 2019.

However, he could only feature three times in his first season and had his campaign cut short by an ACL injury in the following campaign.

The Nigerian midfielder then went on loan to Reading where he found his feet, making 39 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals.

This didn't help him get game time on his return to Vicarage Road, featuring just six times in the 2022/2023 campaign due to injury but eventually broke into the starting lineup last term.

He made 35 appearances in the Sky Bet Championship and scored two goals, including a 33-second strike against QPR in the opening matchday.

Tom Dele-Bashiru has featured for Watford 49 times and will make it 50 games if given minutes against Millwall on August 10, 2024.
