Official: Former Golden Eaglets striker Iheanacho joins Liga Portugal 2 club
Published: July 18, 2024With a statement on their official website, Liga Portugal 2 club Clube Desportivo de Mafra have announced the acquisition of former Golden Eaglets striker Stanley Iheanacho.
Danish Superliga team FC Midtjylland have sent another promising Nigerian youngster to CD Mafra., approximately a week after the Portuguese second tier club confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper Mark Ugboh.
Iheanacho has left The Wolves for good, after signing a five-year contract with CD Mafra, until June 2029.
He is a product of FC Hearts, an Abuja based academy which produced ex-Nigeria U17 captain Musa Muhammed and Ifeanyi Mathew among others.
The 19-year-old made a splash on his debut for FC Midtjylland by scoring four goals in a Cup clash against Aabenraa BK in September 2023.
Despite his outstanding performance in his first appearance for Midtjylland, he could not break into the first team and has departed the Central Jutland team without making his debut in the Danish top division.
Iheanacho was an influential member of the youth team squad that won the U19 Boys League last season, scoring 12 goals in 22 matches, and played in four matches in the UEFA Youth League.
The 2005-born forward could make his competitive debut for his new employers on August 11 when they take on Paços Ferreira.
