Report: Argentine club Gimnasia on brink of deal for 2015 U17 World Cup winner Christian Ebere

According to a report by Argentine daily newspaper, El Día (La Plata) on Sunday morning, Liga Profesional Argentina club Gimnasia are on the verge of signing 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner Christian Ebere on a loan deal from Uruguayan side Nacional.

Gimnasia have reached a verbal agreement to have the former Golden Eaglets star on their books till December 2025 but will pay Nacional $150,000 as a loan fee and will also have the right to purchase the player permanently.

Ebere has found himself down the pecking order at Nacional as the club manager Martín Lasarte has failed to trust him despite the unavailability of first choice striker Gonzalo Carneiro who is out due to injury and Federico Santande.

Lasarte has decided to rely on young Uruguayan striker Gonzalo Petit instead but this hasn't gone down well with fans who don't want the Nigerian forward to leave.

The 26-year-old has struggled to get his career going since winning the U17 World Cup and has been on the books of nine different clubs.

He gained some momentum while playing for Club Plaza Colonia where he registered 19 goals in 53 appearances but his development has stalled yet again since joining Nacional.

Ebere played alongside Victor Osimhen at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup where he helped Nigeria win the trophy, featuring in five games and scoring one goal.
