Done deal: Stockport County loan in Crystal Palace defender Adaramola

With a statement on their official website, newly promoted EFL League One club Stockport County have confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland U21 international of Nigerian descent, Tayo Adaramola.

Adaramola has switched to the Hatters on a season-long loan in search of first team opportunities.

The defender becomes the third Super Eagles-eligible player to depart Crystal Palace on loan in the summer transfer window, after goalkeeper Owen Goodman and defensive midfielder David Ozoh who sealed temporary moves to  AFC Wimbledon and Derby County respectively.

Stockport County have pulled off a major transfer coup to sign Adaramola, seeing off competition from English and foreign clubs.

The athletic fullback spent the second half of last season on loan at Belgian side RWD Molenbeek, where he made fourteen appearances in the Belgian top division.

He made his first team debut for Crystal Palace off the bench in a 2-0 win over Hartlepool United in the Emirates FA Cup in February 2022, before making his full debut verus Stoke City the following month in the fifth round of the competition.

Adaramola has been on the books of the Eagles since U12 level, joining them after stints with the youth teams of St Kevin’s Boys and St Mochta.
