Signed and sealed: Germany U18 international of Nigerian descent Ogbemudia inks new deal at Union Berlin
Published: August 12, 2024Through a statement on their official website,. German Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin have announced that Germany U18 international of Nigerian descent Oluwaseun Ogbemudia has committed his future to the club.
The Bremen native has signed his first professional contract with Die Eisernen following his impressive performances for Union Berlin youth team.
Ogbemudia joined Union Berlin's U19 team from FC St. Pauli a year ago but has been training fully with the senior team since the start of pre-season preparations.
The 18-year-old played in nineteen matches for the U19 squad in his first season at Union Berlin, including five games in the UEFA Youth League.
The dual-national teenager was on the bench for Bundesliga matches against Augsburg and RB Leipzig last season.
On the international stage, the talented central defender made his debut for Germany U18s in a 2-1 loss to Czech Republic in a friendly on November 15, 2023 and also started in a friendly against Portugal five days later.
After putting pen to paper, Ogbemudia said: "I am of course very grateful for the trust that the club and those responsible have placed in me and I am looking forward to continuing to be part of the planning.
"I am happy to accept this challenge and will do my best to be successful and develop myself further every day."
Ogbemudia was included in Union Berlin's summer training camps in Austria and Neuruppin, where he was observed by head coach Svensson.
He participated in friendly matches against Gift Orban's Olympique Lyon, Cyriel Dessers' Rangers, FC Dynamo Kiev and BSG Chemie Leipzig. during pre-season preparations.
