Official: Dutch-Nigerian winger Odutayo joins Swiss club FC Aarau
Published: August 19, 2024With a statement on their official website, Swiss Challenge League side FC Aarau have announced the signing of Colin Odutayo.
The Dutch-Nigerian winger has joined FC Aarau from Finnish first division club FC Lahti until 30 June 2026.
The two-year deal he has signed has an option for an additional season in the club's favour.
Odutayo, who has Nigerian roots and was born in Roermond on the border with Germany, began his career with the youth team of Fortuna Sittard, followed by spells at Racing Genk, Aston Villa and Roda JC
At senior level, he has worn the colours of Neptūnas, Riteriai and Lahti in the past.
The 23-year-old scored seven goals while registering four assists in twenty competitive matches for Lahti, and also directly participated in eleven goals (4 goals and 7 assists) during his time in Lithuania with FK Riteriai.
He has been described as a versatile winger with a lot of offensive drive, and has technical qualities coupled with speed.
For the 2024-2025 season, Odutayo will play with the number 31 on the back of his jersey.
FC Aarau have recruited massively in the summer transfer window, bringing in Serge Müller, Linus Obexer, Izer Aliu, Marcin Dickenmann, Lenny Janko, Raúl Bobadilla, Noah Jakob, Emmanuel Ernest, Colin Hegner and Odutayo.
After four matches in the Swiss second tier, FC Aarauare ninth in the ten-team table with two points ahead of their next game in the division against Etoile Carouge on Saturday, August 24.
