The perfect birthday: HB Koge confirm Dorgu has joined Serie A club on loan with buy option
Published: August 23, 2024Ifenna Dorgu has received a perfect birthday present, with HB Koge announcing through their official website that the Danish-born Nigerian striker has joined Italian Serie A outfit Geno on loan for the remainder of the season.
Born August 23, 2006, Ifenna, younger brother of Lecce fullback Patrick Dorgu, is celebrating his eighteenth birthday today.
HB Koge added that the loan agreement includes a purchase option that can be made mandatory if certain sporting criteria are met during the 2024-2025 season.
Ifenna Dorgu could potentially depart HB Koge on a permanent basis next summer after featuring in thirty five matches for the first team in which he scored five goals.
The 18-year-old was linked with another Serie A club Lazio in the January transfer window but nothing came out of it.
After transferring from Gentofte VI in 2019, Dorgu worked his way up through HB Koge's youth system, eventually making his senior debut in a Cup game versus Taarnby FF in August 2023.
Commenting on the transfer of the Danish-Nigerian teenager to Genoa, sporting director of HB Køge Auri Skarbalius said: "We have been presented with an offer that makes good sense for both us and Dorgu.
"Already at the age of 16, we trusted Ifenna with playing time in the NordicBet League - and he signed off with several important scores.
"The fact that he now gets the chance to show off in a big, traditional club is of course a fantastic opportunity for him, but also a testament to our youth work and our great investment in our own talents."
Two seasons ago, Ifenna was the top scorer in the U17 Division with 29 goals and was also the leading marksman in the division in 2021-2022.
