Rangers manager provides injury update on Super Eagles defender Balogun pre-Ross County
Published: August 23, 2024Rangers manager Philippe Clement faced the cameras at his pre-match press briefing on Friday, on the eve of his side's Scottish Premiership clash with Ross County.
The Belgian football tactician provided an injury update on his players, including Leon Balogun who has not been involved in the last two matches played by the Light Blues, against Dynamo Kyiv in the third qualifying round of the Champions League and St. Johnstone in the League Cup.
Balogun was forced to miss both games due to an injury picked up during Rangers' 2-1 victory over Motherwell on August 10.
Although the experienced central defender has been pictured back in training, Philippe Clement did not confirm whether the former Brighton & Hove man will be involved against The Staggies.
According to Clement, all his injured players should return by next week, except for Rıdvan Yılmaz, who will still be out for at least a month.
In quotes relayed by Rangers official website, Clement explained: "Leon Balogun is fit again and trained all week; Robin [Propper] is a doubt for tomorrow but he will be fit for next week.
“We don’t want to take risks for the longer term, Oscar Cortes will return next week as well.
“There is a small muscle problem for Scott Wright so he is a doubt as well but towards next week, hopefully we will have everyone back other than Ridvan."
After back-to-back wins against Motherwell and St. Johnston , Rangers are hoping to make it three victories in a row in domestic competitions on Saturday when they face Ross County at Hampden Park.
