Manchester United exploring the possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka
Published: August 30, 2024Manchester United are considering a move for Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka who has been deemed dispensable by Chelsea.
According to Sky Sport reporter Dharmesh Sheth, Erik ten Hag's side are exploring the possibility of signing the England youth international ahead of tonight's deadline.
As reported by Sheth, the possibility of the Red Devils signing the 20-year-old is not hinged on the deal that could see Jadon Sancho move from the record English champions to the West London side.
Manchester United have improved their midfield options by the signing of Manuel Ugarte but could now add Chukwuemeka due the exit of Scott McTominay, the unpleasant injury-history of Mason Mount and the possible departure of Christian Eriksen.
Chukwuemeka is yet to feature for Chelsea this season and Enzo Maresca hasn't hidden his intention about the possibility of him getting playing time this season.
He has been linked with Barcelona and Crystal Palace recently but none has expatiated their interest by approaching the Blues regarding the possibility of signing the young midfielder.
The Aston Villa Academy product has been reported to be on high wages and that has been a hindrance for him in getting a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Failure to leave Chelsea today may not bode well for Chukwuemeka who currently is not rated by Maresca.
