Confirmed: Ipswich Town and 2011 Flying Eagles invitee mutually agree to go their separate ways

With a statement on their official website, Premier League new boys Ipswich Town have announced that the club have come to a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of 2011 Flying Eagles invitee Freddie Ladapo.

The signs were there that the striker was surplus to requirements after his number 9 jersey was taken from him and his omission from the first three competitive matches played by the Tractor Boys in the new season.

The acquisition of Chiedozie Ogbene, Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap, Jack Clarke, and Sammie Szmodics during the summer transfer window to reinforce the attack was another sign of his uncertain future.

Ipswich Town have made a move to cancel Ladapo's contract a year before its expiration so he can join a new club even after the close of the summer transfer window.

Signed from Rotherham United in the summer of 2022, the Nigerian forward played in 75 games for Ipswich Town, comprising 17 in the Championship, 46 in the League One,  5 in the FA Cup, 4 in the Carabao Cup and three in the EFL Trophy.

Overall, Ladapo logged 3,253 minutes in those games, registering 25 goals and three assists.

The 31-year-old was a member of the Ipswich Town side that won back-to-back promotions to the Premier League.

A product of Southend United and Colchester United youth teams, he previously wore the colours of Thurrock, Chelmsford City, Bishop's Stortford, Woking, Nuneaton Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Hayes & Yeading United and Grays Athletic.

His other clubs include Margate, Crystal Palace, Oldham Athletic, Shrewsbury Town, Southend United, Plymouth Argyle and  Charlton Athletic.
