For the first time in the Premier League, Leicester City midfielder Ndidi records brace of assists
Published: September 14, 2024Wilfred Ndidi bagged a brace of assists for the first time in the English Premier League during Leicester City's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
Ndidi's first goal involvement was in the 21st minute, when he released Jamie Vardy, who was in an acre of space, and the English striker made no mistake in poking the ball home.
A minute into the second half, the Super Eagles midfielder was the creator yet again, feeding Stephy Mavididi who struck the ball into the bottom left corner.
French forward Jean-Phillipe Mateta reduced the deficit for the away side, rifling Tyrick Mitchell's pass into the back of the net.
The goal was initially subjected to a VAR check but it was allowed to stand to breathe more life into an encounter.
Mateta completed the turnaround for the Eagles in the second minute of the stoppage time, sending the ball past Mads Hermansen from the penalty spot.
Ndidi finished the game with two assists and one yellow card which he received from referee Tony Harrington for a heavy challenge.
The 27-year-old has now recorded two assists in a game for the first time in the Premier League, thereby taking his total goal involvements to 19 in the English top-flight.
He is yet to miss a single minute for Leicester City, re-establishing himself as one of the key players for the Foxes.
